Diabetes

Diabetes is a serious matter of concern nowadays. Diabetes occurs due to excess amount of sugar (glucose) in our blood and also because of improper function of insulin hormone produce by beta cells in the pancreas. A recent survey showed that diabetes is rising as one of the leading cause of death in the world. About 422 million people worldwide are suffers of diabetes. Throughout the world, type 2 diabetes is much more common in people than type 1 diabetes followed by Gestational diabetes (a third type of diabetes).
           A developing country like INDIA is known as the “Diabetes capital of the world”. Every year, more than 10 million cases of diabetes are seen in India. According to International Diabetes Federation Atlas (IDFA) 2015, an estimated 69.2 million Indians are diabetic, which as per the World Health Organization (WHO) assessment stood at 63 million in the year 2013. A prediction shows the number of diabetic patients likely to go up to 80 million in India in the year 2025. Most of the cases of Diabetic patients are seen in states like Kerala followed by Tamil Nadu and Punjab.
    According to Doctors there are many symptoms through which we can know   if we have diabetes or not. Most common symptoms of diabetes are listed below:
1. Increased thirst
2. Increased hunger (mostly after eating)
3. Dry mouth
4. Frequent Urination OR Urine Infection
5. Fatigue
6. Blurred Vision
7. Headaches
     Diabetes may be a leading cause of death in the world but it doesn’t mean that it can’t be prevented. There are many ways for preventing ourselves from diabetes. Some of the ways are listed below:
1. Lose excess body fats (by daily exercise and yoga)
2. Try to eat foods which are mainly plant – based and follow a low calorie diet
3. Drink sufficient amount of water everyday
4. Make yourself stress less
5. Have a proper sleep (at least 6-7 hours per day) 
6. Keep regular check-ups
       Ayurveda is also another affective method through which you can control your diabetes. Personally, in my family there are many of my relatives who are suffering from diabetes. I have seen them using ayurvedic methods to control their diabetes and those ayurvedic methods showed a great results to them.
